LOOK: The Local Government Unit of Bangar, La Union spearheaded by Mayor Joy Pinzon Merin has again recognized three living Centenarians who were given cash incentives.


Last June 6, 2022, the Local Chief Executive and other Municipal Officials, Department Heads, Chairman of the Senior Citizens Affair Office, President of Senior Citizens Association of Bangar and concerned Barangay Officials awarded the cheque with an amount of One Hundred Thousand pesos (100,000.00) each to Marcelina Motilla of Brgy. Luzong Norte and Modesta Mosuela of Brgy. Gen. Prim West, who both turned 100 years old this year, and Basilio Millares of Brgy. Bangaoilan East, who turned 102 years old this year.
Such provision of cash incentives has been stipulated in the Municipal Resolution No. 2019-093 also known as the resolution “Authorizing the Grant of Cash Incentive Amounting to One Hundred Thousand Pesos (P100,00.00) to Each Qualified Centenarian Senior Citizen of the Municipality of Bangar, La Union” which adopted the Republic Act 10068 otherwise known as “The Centenarian Act of 2016”.
The provincial government of La Union will also give cash incentives to each of the said living centenarians in the amount of Ten Thousand Pesos (P10,000.00) this is in addition to the One Hundred Thousand pesos (100,000.00) that will be given by the national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Further, the Municipal Health Office also provided free consultation, vitamins, and medicines to living centenarians.
