The Department of Agriculture through the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) as part of the Farm Mechanization Component distributes Agricultural Machinery and Equipment held at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – South La Union Campus on December 1, 2021.

The Local Government of Bangar, La Union headed by Mayor Joy Pinzon Merin received a total of three (3) Combine Harvesters and two (2) Four-Wheel Tractors. These pieces of machinery were awarded and distributed to the four (4) Associations in the said municipality. The General Terrero Farmers Association Inc. received one (1) Four-Wheel Tractor, the San Blas Farmers Association of Bangar La Union Inc. received one (1) Four-Wheel Tractor and one (1) Combine Harvester, while the Sinapangan Sur Farmers Agricultural Multi-purpose Cooperative and Risintal Irrigators Association Inc. received one (1) Combine Harvester each.

This program aims to increase the farmers’ rice profitability and competitiveness through the use of mechanization and technologies especially that agriculture remains to be the main source of Bangareños’ livelihood.
